Wlan Ljubljana - Open Wireless Network

Mitar Milutinović
Jernej Kos, (english)

OpenWrt Linux distribution, which has brought Linux to manyeveryday, consumer and other embedded devices, with a package manager and greattoolchain for different architectures, has opened doors to innovative uses ofsuch devices. One such is also wlan ljubljana open wireless network. Butworking with and maintaining one system is quite different than working withall devices in the network. For that we have developed our own open sourcesystem which ease deployment and maintaining of the city-wide (community) meshwireless network, without unnecessary work and hassle before and afternetwork's node setup. System helps in planning, setup and later monitoring andmaintaining of WiFi nodes, which are integral part of such network. It takesover routine tasks and lowers the probability of errors in configuration ofnodes, what nurtures community approach to network building.
